ALMA PLACE

This project involved photographing a period town cottage on Alma Place, a brick artisan terrace tucked just off Marlborough High Street. The house has been reworked throughout, with the original small-room layout retained rather than opened up, and the character of the terrace kept intact.

The interiors run on tongue-and-groove panelling, aged brass and a restrained palette, with a stone fireplace and window seat in the sitting room, a checkerboard-tiled bathroom and a Crittall-style shower enclosure. To the rear, a courtyard garden leads to a garden room with a wood burner, extending the living space beyond the footprint of the house.

The brief for the photography was to work with the constraints of a small period cottage — low ceilings, tight rooms and limited window light — and to find compositions that let each space breathe while holding onto the warmth and detail of the scheme.
